Photography to me means much more than merely freezing time. It’s not just reproducing the past. It’s about creating something magical. It’s telling your story in a unique and special way that is often invisible to the eye. My goal is to create pieces of art that ignite a sense of beauty and joy for many years to come. I combine photo journalistic elements with skillful directing.

I love what I do, and I hope you will feel this in my images. Photographing people is about building relationships. Whether it’s a wedding, a portrait session or a headshot, I aim at making it a personal experience, not just a photoshoot. Capturing the emotions and the pulse of your special occasion and transforming them into fresh, modern pieces of art is what Look of Joy Photography is known for.

My first memory of being driven to photograph a moment was when I was 5 years old, hanging out of the window of a safari van in Kenya to photograph a lion. I freaked my poor parents out.
Since then my inspiration behind my photography has changed. In the later parts of the 2000s, while living in Europe and Asia, my focus was documenting the Buddhism of Tibet, masters of meditation, and Asian culture. I have been fortunate to photograph His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 3 separate occasions in France, India, and most recently in Boston during the Mind and Life Institute conference held in 2014. Some of the material of meditation masters and teachers has been part of an ongoing around the world exhibit.

My images have been exhibited and shown in galleries, offices, magazines, and on websites and online publications.
In recent years my passion has been creating modern and stylish photography capturing memories for families, couples and individuals.

Hi, I’m Jurek Schreiner. Thanks for visiting Look of Joy Photography. I’m a wedding and portrait photographer living on the beautiful North Shore of Boston. I am not from here but fell in love with this area. I grew up in Hamburg, Germany but also spent some of my early childhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I came to visit the North Shore because of a beautiful blonde I met while living in France, who is now my wife. Due to her connection and my fierce love of the ocean I declared this is where we were going to live!
We now have a very sweet and sometimes wild little boy that shares the same love for the ocean, friends and family that his parents have. My family and the water close by give me the energy to pursue living my life to the fullest. I love connecting with people, regardless of what I do. Unless it’s freezing out there, chances are you’ll find me swimming, surfing, mountain biking or standup paddle boarding. If I don’t work with my camera obviously. I’m the kind of person that always strives to better himself, both on a professional and personal level. But enjoying myself and having fun and making the people around me having a good time as well is crucial.

I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America.
